THE FAMOUS BEIN INN – SCOTLAND’S MOST INTIMATE MUSIC VENUE

Inns have been a traditional part of Scottish life for centuries, welcoming weary travellers, filling them up with food and drink and giving them a bed for the night.

The Famous Bein Inn has kept all the best elements of traditional inns like good food, roaring log fires and comfortable rooms and has added to them by creating a unique music venue quite unlike anywhere else in the world.

So what will music fans find at The Famous Bein Inn?

The Concert Room

Our main performance space. It’s a bit like someone’s living room, but with a stage and around 60 seats for the audience. We also use it as an a la carte restaurant at times, but all the tables and cutlery are cleared well away for concerts.

On concert nights, we draw the curtains on the big bay windows – unless it’s a really beautiful night – turn down the lights and turn up the magic.

It’s informal. It’s relaxed. You can be less than a couple of feet from the stage. All in all, it’s a bit like watching and listening to friends loosen up and play in your front room (assuming you have a fairly large front room!).

There’s a bar next door and some classic rock posters and memorabilia on the walls to add to the atmosphere.  It’s no wonder so many artists ask to come back again and again.

The Rock Gallery Bistro

This is our downstairs bar/bistro where we sometimes hold smaller gigs and music sessions as well as our regular workshops for songwriters and guitarists.

The Rock Gallery Bistro houses much of our renowned music memorabilia collection. Almost every square inch of the walls and ceiling are covered with posters, photographs, caricatures, backstage passes, set lists and other reminders of classic music. Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Elton John, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, The Eagles and Free are just a few of the names gazing down.

There’s also an amazing collection of Fender scratch plates signed by rock legends such as Carlos Santana, Mark Knopfler, Stevie Winwood, Ray Davis, John Entwhistle and many others, as well as mementoes of inspirational performers like Ry Cooder, Tony Joe White, David Linley and Gene Parsons. Music enthusiasts can spend hours in the place checking out all the memorabilia.

The Rock Gallery Bistro can accommodate around 30 people for a gig and it offers good food, a choice of beers and a full gantry of wines and spirits all year round.

The MacGregor Bar

Our main restaurant and bar serves great food using local produce freshly cooked to order on the premises. Our menus change regularly and the MacGregor Bar is a favourite local choice for weekend lunches and evening dinners as well as a pint or two and a wee dram of whisky.

On the walls you’ll see our own photographs of just some of the great names who’ve played at the Famous Bein Inn. There’s John Martyn sitting in the bar with a pint. Tony Joe White cutting across the car park with his guitar. Henry McCullough with our giant poster from his Wings days. Glen Tilbrook freezing out in the snow. And dozens more.

It’s a record of some amazing nights and unforgettable characters.

Accommodation

The Famous Bein Inn has 11 guest bedrooms, all of them with en-suite facilities, TV and views out across the Bein Woods. 4 of the rooms are larger ground floor suites with sitting areas and a number of the rooms are decorated as Rock Gallery Bedrooms with amazing displays of music memorabilia on all the walls.

Room rates are excellent value starting from £25.00 per person per night including a full Scottish breakfast. We also have all kinds of special offers available throughout the year.

Click through to our hotel website at www.beininn.com for full details of our accommodation and room rates.

Play & Stay

Many of our concert goers travel a long way to enjoy gigs at The Famous Bein Inn. We’ve welcomed guests from America, Scandinavia, Netherlands and beyond to our gigs.

So if you’re travelling some distance to a gig, why not book one of our Play & Stay packages that offer a meal before the gig, a concert ticket, overnight accommodation for after the gig and a full Scottish breakfast to help you on your way next morning?

Play & Stay offers great value and you might even find yourself joining in an informal late night music session in the bar with your favourites. It’s not unusual for some of our performers to wind down afterwards with a few drinks. Most of them stay with us when they play here.

Check out our Gig Guide for costs of Play & Stay packages and give us a call on 01577 830216 to confirm details and make your booking.

Balvaird Restaurant

Once the tables are removed the Balvaird Restaurant takes on another form as the Famous Bein Inn's Concert Room. The intimate atmosphere and seating of only 60 people certainly make it totally unique.

Rock Gallery Bistro

The Rock Gallery Bistro is an attractive bar area themed around what has been widely acclaimed as one of the finest collections of authentic rock music memorabilia you are ever likely to see.

MacGregor Bar

In traditional country inn style, the MacGregor Bar offers an extensive range of malt whiskies, beers from around the world and a wide range of fine quality wines.

Rock Gallery Bedroom

The Rock Gallery theme has also recently been extended to a Rock Gallery Bedroom - giving added inspiration to those who like to dream of being a rock star themselves and to serious rock music enthusiasts.
